Begbies Traynor Group is celebrating a double triumph at the Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards 2019, which took place at The Hilton London Bankside on Wednesday 13th November 2019.
BTG picked up the award for Corporate Rescue of the Year (medium) for its comprehensive restructuring of First Priority Housing Association (FPHA) – the first time a CVA has been implemented to rescue a housing association, setting a future precedent for the sector. The case was handled by Gary Shankland, Partner, and ultimately ensured the protection of 1,100 vulnerable adults with learning difficulties across the UK.
BTG were also delighted to see Abbie Suttling, Senior Insolvency Administrator, presented with the Rising Star Award in recognition of her outstanding work on behalf of the firm.
The awards celebrated the range, variety and best practice of work undertaken by professionals in the TRI space, both as firms and individually.
Overall, 26 awards were given out on a night which highlighted achievement and vital work in an industry which seeks to rescue struggling businesses and provide the best outcome possible for creditors.
Mark Fry, National Head of Advisory and Restructuring at Begbies Traynor Group, said:
“We’re delighted to pick up two highly-coveted awards in very competitive categories.
“The Corporate Rescue of the Year award is testament to the work undertaken by Gary Shankland and his expert team to turnaround FHPA - a severely distressed not-for-profit entity - from the brink of insolvency.
“And we are thrilled that Abbie Suttling has received the Rising Star Award in recognition of her energetic, diligent and tenacious approach and commitment to developing her career in the insolvency and rescue profession. In less than five years she has passed the CPI exam and eight ACA exams whilst maintaining a large caseload – and achieved two promotions. And at a tender age, she has adopted a leadership role in building a cross-sector women’s network to further the development of young professional women in the insolvency industry.”
“We are delighted for Abbie and the firm as a whole to be recognised through these prestigious awards from the TRI.”
